Accepting and Embracing Chaos

It seems we are all doing more with less and trying to make sure everyone is pleased with what little time is available. I don’t recall my parents dealing with the same type of running around that my family experiences. But I love my life. I am actually energized by what I like to call…controlled chaos.

There are moments when I feel overwhelmed though and that’s when I get bossy. Then there are those moments when everything feels under total control…like after running 3 miles with the dog in the morning. I’m ready to take on the world after that.

Many articles and books discuss how you need to slow down and reduce your stress. I tried doing yoga, but found myself holding my breath and opening one eye to peek around and see if others are relaxed. Everyone is different and you have to find out what works best for you individually. Being outdoors and running or hiking with my dogs and family is my stress reducer.

My household has a never ending to-do-list just like everyone else. There are hectic days with deadlines, and unplanned events like running over my own mailbox with my new vehicle. That explanation is too lengthy. Thank goodness my husband has a sense of humor.

My advice? Do plan some downtime for yourself and realize you aren’t perfect; no one and nothing is. This will help to accept and embrace your chaos.
