Life Can Still be Good…No Matter What

We all face moments that knock us down. Becky Galli has faced more than most, and she still found a way to rise, rebuild, and help others.

I had the honor to connect with Becky, a remarkable woman whose story is a testament to resilience, love, and reinvention. After becoming paralyzed just nine days after her divorce—and while raising four children (two with special needs)—Becky could have shut down.

Instead, she chose to rethink what’s possible.

This conversation moved me deeply and reminded me of something essential: life can still be good…no matter what.

Here are a few takeaways from our talk that resonated:

  1. Writing can be a lifeline: Becky shared how journaling, a practice sparked by her father’s advice after the loss of her brother, evolved into personal essays, a column, and two inspiring books, “Morning Fuel” and “Rethinking Possible”. The act of writing became a way to process grief and, later, to share her incredible journey with others.
  2. The power of focusing on what you can do: When faced with paralysis, Becky recalled her father’s wisdom: focus on what you can do. This mindset shift is a powerful lesson for us all, especially when navigating the unexpected challenges of motherhood.
  3. Sharing your story creates collective strength: Becky didn’t just survive; she channeled her experiences into creating Pathfinders for Autism, now in its 25th year, to support families like hers. She highlights the importance of action and contribution.

With Mother’s Day next week ~ around the corner, Becky Galli is someone who deserves to be honored.

She embodies what it means to lead with love, to nurture through adversity, and to keep showing up for others, even when the road is anything but easy. Her journey reminds us that even though life didn’t go as planned, we can still live it fully.

Becky’s mantra:

Even though I’m paralyzed, I can still write.
Even though life didn’t go as planned, I can still live it fully.

Take a moment today to ask yourself, “Even though ____, I can still ____.”

Sometimes that one sentence is all it takes to shift your perspective. You may be surprised by what you find.
