Life is Beautiful

The Joshua tree is a symbol of strength and resilience.

This year holds a special meaning for me. It marks ten years since my last cancer diagnosis (and was considered aggressive). It has been a decade of life, love, and resilience. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.

The title of this post is inspired by the SIXX:A.M. song, “Life is Beautiful.” This is one of the songs we played a lot during boat rides with my husband, watching the sunset together. (Yes, I like rock music!!!)

It popped up on my playlist yesterday while cooking. Listening to the lyrics again made me tear up but in a good way.

It’s a powerful anthem about finding hope and light even in the darkest moments. My favorite lyric from the song is “Just open your eyes and see that life is beautiful.”

This message resonates deeply with me, especially during the holidays. This is a reminder to myself to reflect on the beauty of life and the journey that has brought me here.

A Journey of Gratitude

Blogging and writing became a part of my life because of my sons. They encouraged me to write, knowing I enjoyed it and believing it would make me happier. They were right.

Writing has been a way to process my experiences and share insights with others, bringing joy and healing along the way. It’s been a creative outlet that has brought me closer to what truly matters: connection, meaning, and the simple act of putting thoughts into words.

Ten years ago, I couldn’t have imagined the life I have now. Overcoming cancer multiple times taught me the importance of celebrating every moment, no matter how small. Writing, in a way, has become a celebration of life itself—a space to capture its beauty and complexity.

This year, as I celebrate a decade of health and happiness, I’m more mindful than ever of how precious these moments are. The holiday lights seem to shine a little brighter, the laughter feels a little warmer, and the love of family and friends fills my heart with a profound sense of gratitude.

Embracing Resilience

Reaching the 10-year milestone since my last cancer experience is a testament to resilience and hope. A reminder that even in overwhelming times, beauty emerges through perseverance and the support of others.

As the song says, “Through the heartache, there’s still more to see.'” To me, this speaks to resilience: the ability to endure pain and hardship while continuing to find hope and meaning in the journey. It’s a reminder that even in life’s darkest moments, beauty and light are waiting to be discovered.

Take a moment to reflect on your own journey. What makes your life beautiful? Maybe it’s the smile of a loved one, the kindness of a stranger, or the joy of doing something you’re passionate about.

Whatever it may be, let’s celebrate it.

A Holiday Wish

Life is beautiful. May you find its beauty in every moment, joy in the little things, and strength in the face of challenges.

Life is beautiful and so are you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
