Three of the best inspirational quotes from Steve Jobs

There are a lot of inspirational quotes circulating around social media on a daily basis. I actually like to read them because they help inspire (and can motivate) at unexpected moments.

Since there are so many examples to choose from, I decided to share three quotes that resonate with me the most … and all three happen to be from Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple. Steve Jobs has been described with many adjectives (good and bad), but his shared ideas continue to inspire many.

His first quote below is brilliant and it can be applied to any aspect of your life

  • “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” [Stanford commencement speech, June 2005]

The second quote I chose from Steve Jobs is very simple, and in many ways, has become my personal mantra.

  •  “Every morning I ask myself: If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?”

The third quote is a reminder that life is not a straight line, especially when it pertains to setting goals and reaching them. You encounter set-backs, zig-zags and obstacles…you need to keep pushing through or find ways around them.

  • “Sometimes life’s going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did.”

BrigitteRoxiesCottage.jpgMy Aunt Roxie also inspires me. She is now 90, has a sharp wit, still runs her own restaurant and is an icon in Bowling Green, KY.  She called me recently to tell me how proud she is of me. Priceless.

So who inspires you?
